We lost zach bc he was impressionable. He wanted to prove that he could be as good as bones and the rest of the team. He just did it the wrong way. Plus we see how he takes rejection and asks the team for their input about it. Does he have a crush on angela, yes. Did he take the rejection from her good, also yes. Him being apart of that whole thing has next to nothing to do with romance relationships and more to do with wanting to prove that he is smart and clever enough to be at the top with bones. Thats my take on it at least 💚💚💚

I’ve rewatched bones a lot, and I thought Zack was acquitted of the murder & eating, but because he aided the murder he had to serve like 13 months? I could be wrong tho

1. Zac literally didn’t actually harm anyone but himself 2. Zac himself made it clear that the logical way he was spoken to and what had been explained to him was the reason he joined them in the first place 3. If Angela had even a tiny bit of blame, that would mean booth/hodgins should’ve taken full blame for not being there enough for him🤷🏻♀️

He was groomed. We see it more with age gap romantic relationships. However it exists in other ways, including cults & cult mentalities. Even if they had caught on early, there's no way of knowing if they could've gotten thru to him w/o the explosion that messed up his hands. They was such a shock to the system and helped him shake off enough mold in order to truly hear Brennan when she spoke to him.

I always like the Theory that Zack started following a person who eating people cause he was dealing with PTSD from being in war zone and he never really was trained for.Also he never ate anyone or killed anyone he felt he would if he was told too but over time realize he never killed anyone

I think this is a big issue with the idea of "baby boy" characters in discourse around shows. You can like these characters and have them be a favorite without excusing every horrible thing they do. I see it a lot with Kai from The Vampire Diaries too.
