We had this. The guy came round with his manager to say they'd no longer be delivering our mail because of an aggressive dog. We told him there was a letter box cage on the back of the door. While snuggling our patterdale he said where is the dog? We looked him and said she's the one licking you! His face was a picture. The manager looked at his member of staff, laughed and said put a sign on that there's a cage, we'll still deliver. Apparently they were expecting some sort of aggressive, snarling, big dog not an overly affectionate terrier 🤣 I feel like our postman would have been rinsed for it for least a few months. To be fair she does sound terrifying when someone knocks! xx

My parents once stopped getting mail and when my mum went to the post office to collect all the undelivered mail each letter had “dog at large” written on the envelope 😭😭😭

Royal mail can refuse to deliver mail to you if you don't stop dogs going to the door. You can put a baby gate before the door to stop the dog reaching it, a mail cage on the back of your front door or a metal letter box for your mail to be delivered to. Anyone that feels threatened by a dog can also report it no matter if the dog is a threat or not it's if they feel it's a threat. Staff should be able to deliver and feel safe to do so
