Wuthering Heights is about a BIPOC (Romani) man prevented from marrying his love because of the colour of his skin. This is EXACTLY as if they replaced Tiana with a white girl in The Princess and the Frog live action. His skin colour is integral to his character and the plot.

as an english major and a film major, i’m really curious to see this. people will be disappointed if expecting a book accurate screen adaptation but i don’t think that’s ever what emerald fennel was going for. we have unique adaptions of classics like frankenstein. why not wuthering heights

the biggest is for book lovers - the guy (elordi), is suppose to be a man of color. the girl, is suppose to be a young 17 year old. it sounds like casting is the big issue

I can see this stirring up a lot of controversy, but so did the book. It’s clearly a very stylized adaptation so as long as there’s killer cinematography and jaw dropping scenes I expect from Emerald Fennel, I’ll love it
