@beverlydines: If your boss is bullying you, they're likely struggling with something heavy in their personal life and using work as an escape. Hurt people hurt people. This doesn't excuse their behavior, but it explains it. Don't internalize their pain - they need help, and you need boundaries. #work #corporate #leadership #toxicworkplace #jobsearch
The only power they have is in their title. This is why they're forcing people back into the office.

they are definitely using work to escape their family life. I had a boss that would volunteer for every business trip conference summit just to not be at home.

No no no no no. Let’s not allow their excuses for poor behavior, whatever it may be, be given any grace. After all, those same execs wouldn’t give that grace to a subordinate.

Idk; I’m going to play devils advocate here. At my place of employment executives have been more than supportive. Encouraging mental health days, leading by example and taking mental health days for themselves. Company culture isn’t something you can “categorize” to be an industry standard. Maybe the company you’re working for is just toxic and you should evaluate a career change?

We’re all stressed with home and work, why do they get a pass to bully others? Just no.

I wonder if this was a driving factor to bring back the workforce into the office. More power at work than at home.

Many of them put work before their own families and expect everyone else to do the same. Most are also divorced and single “parents”.

If lower level employees can be fired for a fraction of those things then higher ups need to carry that expectation into their leadership. Leadership is the face and direction of the whole company, if one leader is a problem, the whole company is a problem

Sometimes all they have is the work. They don’t light up at all when you try and ask about their interests. They also do a bad job and take advantage of good employees to make themselves look valuable.
