Apparently there is a separate tool that you have to order that gets the lid off. I don't have time or patience for a cup like this

it has to do with temperature fluctuating in the jug. I had this issue with my son's water cup a few yrs ago. since finding this information out i have had no issues with opening and closing. I had this issue even with my Stanley.

Brumate is bad too. I threw 2 of them away because they were a pita to open. I’ll stick with my Zojirushi.

As much as I hated opening the lid I wouldn’t trade my hydro jug for anything 😭 mine just broke and I haven’t been able to get another but I totally agree with the lid it is so incredibly hard. They do make hydro jugs with the handle at top which is so much easier to open tho!!
