We dealt with this with our daughter when she was 13. We allowed her to alter her outer appearance (haircut, clothes etc). But stood firm against anything that is permanent. I feel that the way we handled this situation is why she grew out of this and is now a happy and healthy 16yr old young lady🩷

Remove her from the school if it's public. Remove the toxic friends if you believe its social contagion. Stay involved and keep talking to her. Remove all social media (do whatever it takes before the ideology steals her from you. If possible MOVE! I am 💀serious from experience

As a 62 (yes I had children later in life ) I have a 24 23 and 19 they go through so much changes by the time you have caught up with where they are they have changes to the next change So wait wait wait patience

I've been thinking about this a lot lately! I was 25 when I learned trans people existed and about 30 when this started becoming popular on the internet. I'm realizing it may be a large part of why I have been surprised by learning about detransitioners and the rates of people transitioning and social contagion. Like I'm processing that it's a very different ball game for your generation.

Maddie- so good and therapy with someone who is not going to tell her that it’s ok and here’s a Dr. who will prescribe hormones - so many are part of the problem

My daughter went through this at 13 also and it was so hard. Thankfully she realized it was a phase (or a mental health issue). But if we pushed her or forced her to I’m not sure she would have seen the light.

Social media has absolutely ripped that human connection away from all of us. Keep your kids in activities, out in the world, meeting people etc. Kids AND adults need purpose, volunteering is a great way to find that connection 🖤
