🤣😂 You can self host most models and generate your LLM or your video or your image, sound whatever on prem in your own home. It will take significantly longer to do with consumer hardware, but you can do it. You need gigantic data centres for these HOSTED SERVICES for the same reason you need huge data centres to host websites and other remote hosted services. Because you are distributing the load, because there are lots of people using the service at once. ChatGPT has MILLIONS of people using it at any moment, not just you. That means they need to daisy chain a series of computers together to have enough compute power to service all of those queries at once at a speed that people will want to use. This isn't rocket science. Don't be ridiculous
