I did that. Both my kids were ostracized, had no friends and were bullied. They had good grades, but hated school. Today they are 24 and 22. They hate me and my husband and say we ruined their lives. They never get invited to parties, reunions and have no friends. Worst mistake of my life.

High school teacher here. Only one kid in my grade 10 class did not have a cellphone. He got the best grade in the class, he was a lovely, polite kid. No one bullied him. He had a small group of good friends. Phones are not necessary. It will be ok to say no.

yes i understand that...but on the other hand they are not gonna be connected with friends and they will be rejected. it is a cruel reality. i don't want to give my future kids a phone in early age but they have to keep up with other friends. i think maybe 2 or 3h a day sounds good.

I saw another girl say she not only says no but also explains why. She sat down with her children and looked into the pros and cons the risk etc they had an open discussion about it and by the end her children were like nevermind mom I don’t want one. I think that can be helpful when we let them in to the discussion. I will hear you out for sure and we can figure out the best solution together
