I live in Shijiazhuang - which NOBODY ever talks about moving to. It’s like a mid sized tier 2 city with very little foreign presence but I still am able to find all my western comforts & the quality of life is great. I think as long as you aren’t choosing tier 4 or smaller then it’ll be just fine. China’s a huge country with so many more options than just Shanghai/beijing/guangzhou/chengdu/qingdao/shenzhen

As someone from nantong , I recommend you to visit nantong wild animal zoo with your kid ! It’s so fun to stay at a tree house and can see red panda coming to you room! And next to the zoo there is a snow park which has snow and ice slide through the whole year !

Hangzhou is a good big enough city nearish to shanghai, absolutely beautiful- don’t miss the xixi wetlands and try the baozi
