@tranquilitybyhehe: I have LONG said that your intimate partner and your OBGYN are so similar. • • • ✅Both have access to your genitals. ✅Both see you in extremely vulnerable positions. ✅Both require your trust and consent before touching you. ✅Both are present during very intimate, personal moments. ✅Both can greatly impact how safe, respected, and comfortable you feel. ✅Both relationships thrive on open communication and clear boundaries. • If you feel uncomfortable leaving your OB’s office- fire them. • If you feel dismissed or like your wishes are always sloughed off- fire them. • If you feel violated by your HCP- report them & fire them. • If your provider is not getting your consent (or is assuming consent)- report them & fire them. • You don’t owe your healthcare team the right to attend your birth, but *THEY* are legally obligated & bound to giving you ethical and consensual treatment. Period. It’s the law.
