beavers are amazing, they symbolize wisdom and it's no coincidence that they know how to manage water to create space for all kinds of life. the biggest beaver dam in the world is in northern Alberta in Wood Buffalo Park and spans 850 metres, I think that would be awesome to visit someday.

I've been actively watching beavers for about 15 years. One of the biggest takeaways I've learned is that the seem to have a long term master plan. They have proven to be masters at sustainability. We could learn so much from them.

You might enjoy the book “Eager” by Ben Goldfarb. It’s all about the role of beavers in the ecosystem and it’s truly incredible what they do and how they do it!

There are beavers arounf out rural town. They completely transformed a slough just outside of town. Was absolutely gorgeous this summer.

When the beaver were depleted in the first half of the 19th c., the board of the HBC were replaced by people who wanted to monetize the Charter by claiming it gave territory they could sell. The decline of the beaver resulted in the sale of Rupert’s Land and the creation of Canada.

I'm in the province of Quebec and where I live the beaver seem to be disappearing. a few years ago they would cut trees in my yard, it was wonderful. The trappers are not like they use to be, today they empty the beaver huts. it's very sad, not to see them on the lake.

And then we go and do “beaver analogue dams” to improve wetlands because we’ve reduced their populations so much 😭
