Just pay in cedis don’t say anything about dollars and if they ask for dollars say you’ll pay in Cedis it’s illegal to price in dollars

That’s illegal. They are not supposed to to be charging in dollars and they can’t ask for nothing more than the bank of Ghana rate. Go to rent control and report them. They’re only supposed to charge in cedis.

So sad to hear. Unfortunately almost all businesses especially except banks will do conversions at whatever the black market rate is at that time if you need to convert funds to ghc, but she should have still taken ghc. In fact there is a mandate currently implemented by the current administration that says all transactions need to be done in the local currency, but its not being implemented, especially w these realtors.

House hunting in Ghana is the worst. watch out for those agents...they will up the price with the landlord behind your back before you ever see the property. Seven years here now...so I feel your frustration. Good luck!
