I’m already worried that they’re going to advertise The Poet Empress as a romantasy and then that crowd is going to bash it because that’s not what it is. 😬 I have an arc but I hate reading books in the year before they’re published. But I’m tempted now to read it early!

The wolf and the woodsman is one of my favorite books and I also felt very meh about where the dark stands still! It’s YA which I think is partially the reason, but it also was just as you said. It could be worth finishing but also you’re not really missing out imo

ok now very curious about the poet empress... will keep an eye out for it when it comes out, I do love court intrigue! the comp titles did not thrill me and the summary did indeed sound romantasy esque (why is it comped to the song of achilles 💀) but you've sold it to me

I felt like A Drop of Corruption was super predictable, where The Tainted Cup often surprised me. Predictability isn't the worst, especially in a mystery where solving it is one of the draws, but it felt very different from the first book because of that.
