MechEngine :
For those that don’t understand, the weight of the bricks is applying tension to the string. When the middle match is put in place, that tension applies a compressive force to the match. When the third match is placed, it’s put under compressive force by the first match. When the top brick is taken off, the bricks pull on the first match, however the third match pushes against it and the second match. The second match doesn’t move because it’s under compressive forces from the strings. The forces are distributed, resulting in the match not falling

Hard to see but that last matchstick is angled, it pushes against the horizontal match which is anchored in place by the tension. The top match then experiences torque about the axis formed where the string sits on top. This torque then is resisted by the table top’s push, creating a kind of tension-sustained hook

According to Flat Earthers ... that happens because of Electro Magnetism -- NOT gravity. *Then again ... that wooden match -- looks awful Magnetic! 🤔😳😬
