because this is colonialism. those so called animistic folk practices are the indigenous foundations of that country and they are not homophobic. It is the indigenous people who are colonized from Islam, the Christians and the West. Islam is not inherently anti indigenous but the way it is applied here is. If applied correctly, Islam is a protector of indigeneity not a colonizer. Decolonization means for everyone, not for one religion or one group of people based on their sexuality.
