When my ex-husband told me he was dying, I expressed happiness.. not out of cruelty, but because of the pain he caused me and my son. He made our lives miserable, and even while sick, he continued to drag me and my whole family down. All I ever wanted from him was to let us go and allow us to live peacefully. He never gave financial or emotional support. For so long, I prayed to God to set me free from him, yet I still find myself hurting for the same reasons. Now, I feel numb. No matter how much I pray or try to do what’s right, it feels like my world is still crashing. I continue to stand strong and fight for my son while searching for something positive to hold onto. I may have said harsh words, but deep down, I am hurting and regretful. That isn’t who I truly am, it’s the pain speaking, and it’s the pain I want to finally let go of.
