hello! i lived in tokyo for 8 years - these are underrated tips that i think everyone should know! thank you for spreading 🥰 also side note, tampons are available but they usually come in very inconspicuous packaging and in larger supermarkets/drugstores so some image translation is needed to find them :)

also, adding to the language part: smiling and bowing does wonders as well. just because my sister and i did that a lot, we had so many locals approach us and had interesting conversations with them 😭 when we were hiking in nagano, a villager gifted us fruits and tried to talk to us. yes, there was a language barrier most of the time as my japanese isn't good enough yet, but he was so nice to us 🥹
