Alexander the Great (356–323 BC) Alexander the Great was the king of Macedon and one of the most famous military commanders in ancient history. In just over a decade of campaigning, he created an enormous empire stretching from Greece and Egypt to Persia and northwestern India. Born in 356 BC in Pella, Macedon, Alexander was the son of King Philip II. He received an exceptional education and was famously taught by the philosopher Aristotle, who influenced his interest in philosophy, literature, science, and culture. Alexander became king at only 20 years old after the death of his father. He quickly secured his position in Greece and then launched his famous campaign against the Persian Empire. His major victories included the Battle of Granicus, the Battle of Issus, and the Battle of Gaugamela, where he defeated the Persian king Darius III. He then continued eastward through Central Asia and reached northwestern India. Alexander was known for his military strategy, courage, ambition, and ability to inspire his soldiers. He frequently shared the hardships of his army and earned their loyalty through his leadership. His legacy was not only military. Alexander founded numerous cities, many of them named Alexandria, and his campaigns helped spread Greek language and culture across a vast region. The resulting cultural exchange contributed to the Hellenistic Age, which had a lasting influence on art, science, philosophy, and trade. Alexander died in 323 BC in Babylon, at just 32 years old. His empire was later divided among his generals, but his influence on military strategy, leadership, and world history has lasted for more than two thousand years. #viral #philoshophy #aryankelvin #alexander #creatorsearchinsights
