After I got my degree I realized I was among only a few in work spaces and expected to act in what ways they deemed acceptable. The more willing you are to strip yourself of identity and knowledge of self, the higher you go. The caveat is you must be able to influence other black people to do the same. And once you aren’t, you’re treated the same way as pookie and ray ray were that made you take the path you did. It’s a war. Just not in plain sight.
