I saw a B52 come in to Pease in the seventies, a fighter jet off each wing, engines burning. The state police asked my dad to block the highway with his tractor trailer to avoid cars driving through the thick black smoke. The pilots did an amazing job of getting that big beautiful bird back on the ground.
