I’m a barista who has had a customer get mad at me because they thought I was focusing more on writing on cups than getting drinks out quickly… I could get fired for missing a note on a single cup. That’s not an exaggeration.

“back to starbucks” has made work hell. all these new little things, making work extremely stressful at times. we need to focus on otw times. write on EVERY cup. do you want us to focus on connecting with customers OR speed? can’t exactly do both with only 6 people on the floor for peak….

how about offering the customers sugar free options? all we have is sugar free vanilla and stevia. i get asked all the time if we have more sugar free alternatives and how about not making every add on a dollar up charge.. how about redesigning the app so the customers know about changes like no more free waters without a purchase or allowing them a week to redeem a birthday drink not just one day. i can go on and on about how to make it more about the customers and not asking ridiculous stuff from baristas like to write on every single cup that’s just gonna go in the trash. moral is at an all time low since this dude became CEO.

pumpkin spice launch started with 3 days straight of my store sourcing out to our local grocery store and buying about $200 total worth of heavy cream to make vanilla sweet cream foam to make pumpkin foam over the launch. not enough was ordered for the launch with the new AI counts. customer wait times went up and honestly we kinda looked like headless chickens back there. almost like we just need enough product and people on the line and it would be fine

As an sbux barista, the amount of food and pastries that are expiring and have to be donated every night is a little crazy sometimes. Like at my location it’s usually a whole grocery bag full, sometimes more than one. This equates to a more conservative estimate of at least $8,000 of retail value loss from just ONE store every year

yeah maybe don’t focus on barista clothing and giving baristas so many more tasks like writing on cups and standing at the door to great and we can actually focus on coffee quality
