When I was in ninth grade I discovered Ado about 4 months ago when hearing Kura Kura from the Spy x Family opening, and since then, her music has completely changed how I experience songs. Even though I don’t understand Japanese yet, I feel every emotion she puts into her voice. I remember the first time I heard The World’s Continuation—I accidentally hit a high note with lyrics pulled up, while singing along, and it felt unreal. That moment made me feel connected to the music in a way I never expected. I’ve been learning little by little because one day, I want to sing along at a world tour knowing all the lyrics by heart. Even as a new-gen fan, I feel like I’m growing with your music every day. In my second to last month of Freshmen year, I had so much studying and work to do. I worked as hard as I could while pursuing my personal goals. I constantly got mediocre grades even when I studied for hours. I was this close to just letting everything go. I had one best friend, but I we had different classes. I was introverted, tired, hurt, and wanted it to be all over. After studying for a few hours for my final exams, I was tired and layed down on my bed to scroll on TikTok. Then the song “The world’s continuation” came up. Ado’s voice touched my heart even though I didn’t understand a single Japanese word she said. It felt like a mother singing a lullaby to put her child to sleep. Ado’s music motivated me to keep going, to keep trying even when i wanted to give up. I studied even harder and got all A’s on my exams. The last day of school, I finished my Spanish exam and left school early. As I was walking I put my AirPods in and opened Spotify. I didn’t have a playlist built yet, but I decided to listen to the song “Where the Wind Blows.” It felt like I was somehow connected to Ado, like she was with me this whole time. I got into my golf cart and turned the keys and drove home while shedding a tear. Thank you, Ado, for pouring so much soul into your songs—it inspires me more than words can express.
