@ticking.during: On April 1st, 2014, two young women from the Netherlands, Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon, set out on a hike along the famous “La Pianista Trail” in Boquete, Panama—and never came back. A huge search followed, but for weeks there were no answers. About ten weeks later, their backpack turned up with phones inside, showing multiple emergency call attempts starting the very afternoon they disappeared. The last try was made on April 11th. Their camera held regular travel photos, but also over ninety unusual shots taken in complete darkness. Later, some remains were discovered nearby. The backpack’s neat condition and the odd state of the findings left many people torn between the idea of a tragic accident and the possibility of something else. To this day, the case is still an unsolved mystery.
