Sorry kalau cuma bisa seadanya.. Saat ini saya sedang di Toronto, berusaha fokus mengukir prestasi (yang ujung-ujungnya juga demi nama negeri sendiri). Di tengah kesibukan shooting (dan juga actually sedang physio karena ada minor injury), I can’t close my eyes to what’s happening in Indonesia. Maaf kalau mungkin hasilnya tidak sempurna, but in the midst of my schedule, I finally found only 1 day to sing these 2 of Indonesia’s most beloved national songs and shoot them with a simple camera. I hope this can bring a little peace to my fellow Indonesians… a reminder that anarchy is not the answer, but self-reflection is. Anarki bukan jawabannya, tapi instrospeksi diri. Despite all of this, my hope for Indonesia remains strong. I have always tried to carry and amplify the name of Indonesia proudly on the world stage (yes… at my own expense, with my own money, and with my own resources). Even when some have tried to exploit my name for their own agendas, or have used me as a distraction in the past, my hope has never wavered. My belief has always been that Indonesia will rise above. So let me say this clearly: Do not allow yourselves to be provoked. Do not allow yourselves to be manipulated. We are wiser. We are stronger. We are no longer the Indonesia of 1998. Warga jaga warga. Because in the end, we are one nation — bound together by a single truth: Unity in Diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika). —— For my non-Indonesian followers, these beautiful songs are: - “Ibu Pertiwi” (c. 1908), is actually adapted from the Christian hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” (poem by Joseph M. Scriven, 1855; melody by Charles C. Converse, 1868). Then in 1908 Kamsidi Samsuddin wrote these beautiful lyrics of Ibu Pertiwi. - Indonesia Pusaka was written by Ismail Marzuki
