You mention not wanting to invest time, energy & money, but maybe when you move somewhere new you could invest some time & energy to make the place feel more like yours - and make sure any money you do spend is on items you can take with you if you move again, such as fun bedding for your kids.

I'm 50, and we just relocated from Canada to Finland. I have kept track of all our official addresses (I don't even count the times we were living in airbnbs. We have had 18 different addresses in 30 years living together my husband and I. And I feel the same. It's become more and more difficult to take the time and energy: it's adding up! 😅

I feel exactly the same way. I grew up in a house and still can't adjust to a rental

think unconventionally. I thrifted a set of vintage IKEA curtains 15+ years ago and I have rehomed and rehemmed them every time I've moved.

I also hate not being able to paint and do little projects in my own home… after owning homes for years doing the rental thing is hard. It’s not practical as I sometimes have to fix the walls when I leave… but I hang a ton of shit in the walls anyway 😅 I use tapestries and art and wall hangings and I do buy furniture for each rental (within reason). Learning how to use different drywall anchors and buying the tools I need helped a lot. I am accepting that I may be renting long term and I’m hoping to find our ideal longer term rental next year 🤞🏼 but if not - my kids are sure getting good at settling into new places haha

I always did that. I learned not to paint, but I did start hanging things to make it my happy place and a home. Live for the day not the future

reallllll, my boyfriend, my friend and i decided to paint our rental. worst case- we have to repaint it all white in two years (2 yr lease) and spackle some holes in the wall. best case- the new tenants/buyers like what we did and choose to keep it!
