In today’s day and age if I was back in the shops I would be taking pictures all the time before touching the vehicle. When I worked for NTB years ago we had to walk out to the vehicle before we even written the ticket up to document damage and we still had to deal with that stuff…

Previous damage if notated on the repair order covers you legally. There is a portion of the story missing.

Those types of customers are broke with no accountability, and they love to blame someone else. All they look for is a so-called "I came up on them"

It was to my understanding when I lost my job at Hyundai. It was due to finances because they had to pay to tow this vehicle back from out of state to our dealership after it was checked out at another shop in a different state because a nail went through the new radiator that was installed. The new radiator was a warranty job. I was let go before the vehicle made it back to the dealership that customer came back two more times for a radiator after I was let go

This has become the “Norm”. The industry has let the customers do this and especially bad when Dealers started doing customer surveys. It’s sad!

At Honda you could tell who was who. Used to just do the multi point and oil and then send them packing. Not even wasting my time.

The amount of CYA you have to do now a days is ridiculous. And it’s always to the biggest POS cars you touch and people with that do the absolute bear minimum.

can't count the number of times customers tried blaming me for damages like scratches, dents, cracked windshields, after the 3rd or 4th one I have my techs take videos now of cars focusing on damages on the vehicles before bringing it into the shop, its sad we have to do this to protect ourselves from false claims

On the other hand I once purchased a 17 Cruze from a dealer and paid 4500 plus finance costs for a warranty. It came with just enough free oil changes to get me to the end of the warranty. My next oil change was done at home 900 miles after warranty and they refused to fix 3 different oil leaks I found under the vehicle even though part of an oil change at a dealer is supposed to be an inspection
