@julietteamie: Keen to hear others thoughts on this.. I believe in being open, adapting and embracing! #britinamerica #lifeinamerica #movingabroad #britinusa #livinginamerica
I love that the US is built on so many cultures — the food, traditions, and lifestyles here come from all over the world. For me, adapting means respecting all of that while learning how to live here day-to-day

This is also applicable to Americans who move from one state to the other. So many people move to a very different state and then complain about everything they don’t have that they had in their previous state, and it makes the locals dislike them. You have an embrace and adapt to where you are!

💯 Valid take. I do say silverware as a New Englander but I feel like New England might be the acception to a lot of slang

I love your journey! My family immigrated from Asia to the US in the I early 70s. We didn't find it controversial to adapt to the local community/city where we first arrived and lived. We've kept our -isms at home while code switching with everyone else.

I lived in England for 3 years, and continued to call it a restroom. Some things shouldn’t be changed, sorry. But I now call Semi Trucks “Lorries” from time to time 😂
