@mbcdigital247: #Update Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Commander General Paul Valentino Phiri says the MDF remains an apolitical institution that is committed to professionalism and loyalty to the country's Constitution. Phiri was speaking during the graduation of 834 MDF recruits at the Malawi Armed Forces College in Salima. He challenged the men and women in uniform to uphold integrity, respect and responsibility within and outside the military circles. "With the national elections scheduled for 16th September drawing near, your duty is to uphold peace, and stand as a neutral and disciplined force that serves every Malawian equally, regardless of political affiliation," said Phiri. He also hailed government's support through resources, training initiatives, and infrastructure, which he said, has enhanced their capabilities and ensuring that soldiers remain sharp, skilled, and mission-ready. Minister of Defence, Monica Chang'anamuno, noted that security is the anchor of the country's development and that is why government continues to recruit, train and equip the MDF.
