You can appreciate your time with your child / sacrificing for your family. You can also resent the sacrifice and feel that your career, your SELF was too big. And resent your partner for not sacrificing in the same way, or work as hard as you did in your role.

She also looked after her Father with dementia. Then he has his mother stay with them, and got cranky she took off for the day. Expectations were always on her to be the caregiver

This is the challenge all mothers face. We always sacrifice one for the other, on some level, and we have to deal with the internal push pull. She’s being honest and I admire her greatly for it.

Complaining about giving away your life for your daughter doesn’t mean you don’t love her. There’s so much stigma around motherhood. We should normalize not feeling great about giving away your ambitions. It is human. ❤️🩹

It's not regret it's more like grief. We start at the beginning after raising kids when we go back to work. Just be there for us as we try to find who the new version of us is now that motherhood is not our whole person.

I think the harsh thing is she expected him to do more to handle the finances. She’s more upset that she’s upset with herself that she should’ve realized he wasn’t the man to handle everything and she should’ve went back to work sooner. She wishes she could’ve done exactly what she did and He took care of them even excelled. That’s a hard truth & I think she feels bad or afraid that she’ll look entitled saying that so instead she went with the emotion of “I’m mad at myself” which is partially true
