My group is doing a sort of sequel to our Curse of Strahd campaign playing character roulette, I got a character that our forever DM played last time and was really weirded out when I made references to decisions he'd made in the previous session, especially when I referenced some picture cards of a favourite adventurer and started showing them to the new people who joined the group and narratively we are building on a previous character who spilt their soul who created a spell to transport the new party to Barovia causes them to swap bodies each day calling it the Daisey Curse, we finished the campaign over a year ago but this brought all those amazing memories back!

most of the people on my Saturday table are my actual IRL friends way before they joined the campaign, same with my Wednesday, Friday, and half of my Sunday group lol

I think it also goes the other way - meaning that if there's conflict it will be much more hurtful. Double edged sword I suppose 😅

I feel stuck in a D&D group that makes me feel really uncomfortable. The DM punishes some characters because of real-life problems that he refuses to face with communication, and a player wanted to kill my character just because I had a different idea than him, which he couldn’t accept. The group don’t see a problem with that; they say it’s just a game, but I still feel uncomfortable and don’t know how to handle the situation...that never happened before

I lost all my friends 5 years ago, I immediately was isolated by an ex so I didn't make any new ones until we broke up last year. now I'm running a campaign with the 4 people I'm closest with at my derby league, so this is really great news to me 🥰🥰

Only if the dnd characters actually grow close and not like my current dnd game where everyone feels basically isolated from each other. And then only if the players actually interact outside of the game, unlike my group. They're great people, but I still feel like an outsider who is only tolerated because I'm not bad/annoying enough to kick from the group.
