They’re technically correct, because that’s a compound fracture.

X-ray techs legally can’t say if it’s broken and some hospitals have policies on showing the image you have to request a disc

The tech who took your images doesn’t have to show you the images on the monitor. However, you can request to receive a disc with your images on it. You should for sure be able to get a copy.

The fracture may not be visible on X-ray due to swelling. I'm sure they told you to follow up with your primary in a few days to a week. Ask for another X-ray at that appointment.

I mean, dislocation can cause bones to come out of the skin too but also not letting you see the X-rays is wild

if their monitor is in the control room they legally can’t let you back there bc other patients medical information will be back there.

X-ray tech - I’ve seen deformities that turned out to be massive hematomas. Cannot let patients see their X-rays but can get them from medical records

Tell them you want a cd of your images for your primary care physician and for a second opinion. Those are your medical records. Not theirs. Legally, they can not keep them from you.

The performing technologist can, in fact, opt to not show you the images. Inevitably, you’re going to ask that tech questions that they cannot answer. The doctor should show you. Also, if your bone pierced the skin without a fracture, you most likely dislocated it. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
