@shamihap: Not every girlie wants to work 60 hours a week to make six figures… some of us just want to be paid well, with lots of benefits, and to work from home primarily- then trust me… you all are sleeping on working in local government!!!!?!?! Lmk if you have any questions!! #softgirl #corporatelife #careeradvice #wfh #worklifebalance
Public sector NHS is NOT soft life. I can tell you that for free

The public sector where I’m from is so stuck in its ways… I couldn’t survive their backward processes!

My mum’s best friend started working for her local council at 25. She’s now in her 50’s, progressed to the top and is on a 6 figure salary. She loves it, has such a good work-life balance too.

Public sector pays the worst, what is this about 6 figures?

A note to others: please don’t look into teaching for a work life balance or soft life

I used to work for the civil service and didn’t find it disability friendly for autism sadly :( I had to advocate for myself to get reasonable adjustments and no one knew the process of how to formally ask for them lol, it took forever! Completely depends on the office/department I guess!

Having worked for over 12 years in LA's in adult social care this is rubbish! We work long hours, lots of stress and pressure. You have to be qualified for a lot of the posts and it's not an easy ride. There is no money, restructures all the time, constantly applying for your own job! This is not the reality, yes it's rewarding but the majority of us do it for the passion to make a difference to our communities, not the money!

I worked in the public sector and hated it. bullied out of my job by people who called me difficult for being autistic. broken processes that won't change due to red tape, poor pay for the amount of work expected and unrealistic targets.

Nah, my dad works in the public sector and the only good perk seems to be the pension. They’re required to go into office 3/5 days a week, don’t have have designated desks and they don’t even get tea and milk in the office.

I really need this. Even though teaching is public, it's hell here, working so much unpaid overtime. I crave to just work my contracted hours and have my evenings to myself. I pray and hope one day I get into this soft life.

Depends what type of job you’re doing for the local authority. I worked in housing and it definitely wasn’t relaxing 😅

Civil servant here, your video is so helpful and kind. I would caution a blanket view of public sector, I work about 80 hours a week in central gov as a mid senior CS, it’s competitive salary wise but the terms aren’t the same as you mention re sick/pension/hours… a major plus is working for the right reasons though, not for a profit margin ❤️
