@vigo_the_carpathian53: I remember my sister and I were walking around St. Marks Place in New York the day Lou Reed dropped his album New York. We were so excited. We both got into Lou Reed back in the late 70's by way of David Bowie. For a while there, Bowie, Iggy and Lou were always in each other's company. When David Bowie gives you a seal of approval, you should take heed. We did and never looked back. Lou Reeed's work as a solo artist is tremendous. Not counting the brilliance of The Velvet Underground. Which is easily one of my favorite bands. New York is full of gritty, sometimes heart breaking stories, lost love, the pursuit of happiness, class struggles between the rich and the poor, The whole album is deep dive intonthe city he loves through his eyes. He covers the good and the bad, the pain, the sorrow, the joy, and everything in between. This might possibly be his most personal album. Of course, Transformer will always be my favorite. But, for the 80s, you can't go wrong with this album. Definitely a masterpiece, in my opinion. #fypシ #80smusic #Alternative #GenX #LouReed

Lou Reed was a Masterpiece songwriter. This song is a Masterpiece, the Album is too. 1 of the 20 best songwriters of the past 100 years imo, and along with Tom Waits probably the most ‘unique’ of the greats. Would someone please make a Motion Picture about this great & amazingly interesting man?!?

Remember though: first Bowie came looking for Lou’s and Iggy’s approval. But that’s just some other time…

He was really good! I wish I was more into his music at that time and really that whole scene. Something about Andy Warhol always smacked of artificiality and it kind of tainted Lou Reed for me at the time.
