Hey at least Elon gets to have a trillion dollars. One person definitely needs one thousand billion dollars. That’s how we know America is great

Does the federal reserve have something else to do? This is their job, so do it.

Hey, you should just get a small clip-on microphone ! I started out with one I got off of Amazon for $50 – it really eliminates background noise and it does a great job without too much money - I have since upgraded to rhode and it’s wonderful

Question—why does keeping rates high weaken the job market?

Can we talk about these downward revisions? I don’t understand why it’s so common

Good commentary but isn’t the dual mandate tension between goals by design?

With AI reducing jobs do you think the interest rate cuts will make a difference? seems like companies will use that to BUY more AI products instead of hiring

Tariffs might work in 4 or 5 years. We will all be unemployed and excited to earn minimum wage at whatever factory hires us. We might be cheaper than a Tesla robot at that point. It takes years to build factories.

Who in the right mind would open something like a manufacturing job in such an unstable environment. Manufacturing takes huge capital investment

It would not surprise me if like ten years from now, we get AI news reports suggesting that the tariffs were done deliberately towards wrecking the economy so which corporations survive can pick up the remains on the cheap.

Why would the US economy be good? Tariffs are inflationary, and the rest of the world doesn’t want to travel to the US because you are now a fascist state, or buy US goods as your President has attacked and degraded every country in the world, including the Penguin islands.

Tariffs are on purpose so interest rates are lowered. He’s so manipulative

until we can solve our housing price crisis, no amount of rate cuts or hikes will be enough. cheap goods mean nothing if home ownership or renting take up over 50% of our income.

Joe Adams :
Other than a .25 reduction in rates, is there any “dry-powder” in the markets that will ignite from a rate reduction. .25 will not meaningfully increase the housing market and consumer demand. PE is adequately leveraged at this point. Inflation not only raises rates, it increases debt servicing. Great way to bankrupt a country

I am old enough to remember the stagflation of the 1970s. It was not pretty. It was horrible for most families. Prices would continue to rise yet wage growth was slow. And like you said, it is very difficult for the Fed to address & our Congress is disfunctional, so fiscal policy probably won’t save us.

It’s going to put pressure on them to do nothing. The big economic news is the Trump tariffs are unconstitutional and illegal, so the Fed will wait to see if the Supreme Court is going to agree or be the clownshow they are now.

Probably a good time to cut Medicaid deeply, doesn’t seem like the health sector is propping up the entire labor market or anything
