I euthanized a woman’s horse at my boarding farm on the same night that her husband passed, hours earlier. I sat in my tub at 5am when I got home and stared at the ceiling for a couple hours. The next day I called off work to go touch some grass 😩😩

Had to quit after one of my favorite clients wife died and all he had was her dog, and a year later we had to put the dog down, I sat and bawled after that shift

next week, we’re seeing one of my favorite patients and clients for a quality of life. it’s an elderly blind man and his retired seeing-eye dog. i held back tears seeing that appointment, he loves carleen so much.

And then half the time they tell you some story that just twists the knife already in your heart. We had one where this cat was a kids pet and they just got diagnosed with cancer and lost their aunt like a few weeks prior. 🙃 Or the dog who found this families youngest daughters brain cancer and they were able to detect it early and safe her life. 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Hershey’s mom passed the day after he did. He was her heart. Her husband found her in her favorite chair to nap with Hershey in the next day. He buried her with Hershey’s ashes. 😭

A top contender is people dropping off their babies for a euthanasia and leaving them there all alone. I still remember sitting with a little old lady kitty when I could throughout the whole day as all the other workers just left her there in her carrier by herself 💔 she was so old and you could tell she felt so alone, my heart absolutely broke for her. I was only 16 at the time, and years later I still think about it
