@merlinbirdid: Fall Migration is in motion and the skies are alive with movement! 🍂 Flocks of birds, like this group of Tree Swallows outside Toronto, are pausing to drink and refuel before continuing south for the winter months. Moments like this remind us how incredible migration really is: tiny birds undertaking journeys that span thousands of miles! And it’s not just swallows, roughly 20 percent of bird species migrate. Their routes are not isolated to rural environments and often pass right through our cities, neighborhoods, and backyards. Across urban and suburban environments, you can see birds on the move right now. Fall is one of the most rewarding times to go outside and listen. Even a short walk outside could connect you with a migrant on its way to the Southern Hemisphere. What species are you seeing this weekend?
