If you own the place, do one better... get s humidity sensor for the fan so it'll turn itself on and off when it needs to. (They have ones with timer switches etc, too, so you can also turn it on manually.) Probably going to need to run another wire like everyone else is saying.

If you do DIY, PLEASE make sure you turn off the breaker connected to them before touching anything. Break the hot wire splice first (usually a black or red wire) always!

go watch some videos on how to change out a light switch. if you're comfortable doing what they show in the video, then this is something you can totally DIY. You just need to identify the hot wire and the outgoing wires to the light and fan. make sure you turn off the breaker first!

Its a cheap fan, old one was probably replaced with a cheaper model which are combos, you would need to upgrade your fan, replace the switch and check if theres a wire behind the plate, though someone may also be right about the vanity light

Is the house a rental?? Alot of rental properties do this because the tenant doesn't turn on the fan when showering and it then vets mold in it

Chances are you probably had a vanity light over top of the mirror and people got rid of them as part of an interior design trend. So there's probably still wiring to a closed up box above your mirror if your vanity light has been removed. if the wiring is still there, then it would be a quick fix

ok i am going to its not a yes or no but a probably. It depends on how its wired. you can refer to videos of professional on details. I would turn the breaker off. pull the plate look to see if the load side of the switch has two wires coming off. if so disconnect one and move it safely out the way. tighten the one wire on the switch and restore power. when you turn that switch one see if just the light or fan turns on. if so then yes its an easy replacement of a switch. please be careful with electricity

Not an easy job but more than within your capability as long as you have some sound guidance. First, make sure you find the breaker to turn the power off. Then you can unscrew the plate and you should see at least three black wires. When is the hot wire which is supplying the electricity the other two are the load wires one going to the fan and one going to the lights.

probably easy, there's a chance that it'll take 3 master electricians and 2 engineers to figure out though. ive seen some crazy wiring that I cannot explain. like turn 2 breakers off to kill a line but if you turn this third one off its working again weird
