Sleep deprivation can destroy the best of us. No, you’re not crazy. No, you’re not dramatic or too much or too weak to handle motherhood. There’s nothing wrong with you except that without sleep you’re in survival mode. Your brain literally cannot cope without it. Yet night after night, day after day you are expected to function anyway. And not just function, but do it like you had a full nights rest. Not just get through the day, but be responsible for someone’s life. It’s like giving someone one brick and telling them to build a house. You’d think they’re stupid right? So why are we expected to carry on like that? We sure live in a strange world. It’s hard to share myself in such a vulnerable state but if I can make one mother feel like she’s not alone in just HOW alone she feels, I’ll feel like I did something. The irony is I’m sharing this to show women how common it is to feel this broken through post partum yet it’s so sad that as a society we’ve normalised women feeling this way 🖤 #motherhood #postpartumjourney #sleepdeprivation
