But that time I proudly stood by my order of 3 tacos in broken French while the staff tried to talk me out of it ended in a delicious miscommunication in Tours, France. 🇫🇷 I got 3 tacos alright, 3 boxes of tacos, each with 3 tacos inside, then proceeded to conduct an absolute clinic on every American stereotype as a horrified yet fascinated staff looked on, mouths agape. I think they even called a guy over from the next shop to bear witness as I mowed through nine of these at 10AM in the morning. There was an audible gasp when I opened the third box. This shamed me from getting a fourth box and sometimes at night, I still wonder what might have been… One thing we can’t afford to miscommunicate is our weather forecasts. Reliability and accuracy are key to people taking effective action, because when forecasts are taken with a grain of salt, people evacuate too late, fail to take precautions, etc. A key strategy of our Hurricane Hunter Satellite mission is to improve communications ahead of an extreme weather event by delivering the very best predictions that people can rely on. You can have the best forecast in the world, and we will by as much as 12 hours, but if people are not aware or feel it is not reliable, they may not act in time.
