@honey_32_32: 🐾 … they don’t all leave wagging … some arrive with names and don’t get to keep them … some wait with hope that bends, then folds, then vanishes into the corners of a metal pen … some were adopted once … briefly … and returned with less light in their eyes than before … returned because they were “too much energy.“ … „because they shed.“ … „because they aged.“ Shelters weren’t meant for permanence … they were designed as passages, but when the volume exceeds the exits, stories begin to end … quietly, without cruelty … but without continuation. In the U.S. alone, over 400000 dogs each year never make it out again … not because they were broken, but because we mistook inconvenience for incompatibility, because we chose impulse over commitment, because we forgot that loyalty isn’t always easy, but it’s always deserved. Seniors wait the longest. Black dogs are passed over. Breeds with misunderstood reputations watch others leave … and still they hope.
