As someone who went through the "dot com bomb" era, I've felt your pain. We would show up to work, being ushered to a room at the door, and bam! Bye-bye. Many of us were laid off multiple times and had to re-enter the market in less than senior roles not even in our professions. My experience is that Unions / Unions reps make $$ off backs of employees... so not a fan. 😳 Best to you. I believe you'll survive!

look into state level government work. Most states always need employees because the pay is not great compared to the private sector but it’s a paycheck and in most states once you’re in it’s almost impossible to be laid off. If you’re in a blue state you’re definitely safe from layoffs at the state government level

This country really doesn’t look after its future. Students get no real help while in school and end up buried in loans. Even after they start working, they’re getting messed up again. The leaders are totally responsible for this.

We have a similar story. 8+ years of post production experience, 6+ with the same company, I'm senior/manager level and have digital media supply chain workflow improvement experience and I was laid off due to workforce reduction on the 8th round. 10 months in unemployment and I can't even get entry level offers. I made it to the final round for 5 global streaming services got called overqualified, Rank 1 and the hiring manager saying he has plans for me and I'm still looking for a job

I’m a mental health therapist and got laid off recently. Mental health and addiction programs are being cut and/or are not being funded anymore. Many of my co-workers are in the same boat but the worst thing is that there are NO job openings available in our city.
