Is this your first hotel stay? Hotels charge to park your car buddy.

They have a parking lot. Parking should be free, period. It’s just a money grab and scam. And if your car gets stolen or broken into, you’re SOL

The more expensive the hotel, the more likely you have to pay for parking or breakfast, or at least that’s experience with it

a lot of them do this... BUT it's usually waived for people who are actively staying at the hotel. I travel a lot for work and 90% of the hotels I stay at 'charge' for parking. Granted, most of them are in busy shopping areas or near the beach in places like Cocoa, so they get a lot of folks visiting the beach trying to park in their lots. So, people can... if they pay to park. They scan the code, put in their plate, and it registers in the system. Any plates not in the system get towed. People staying at the hotel provide the info when they check in... and their plates are added to the system for the duration of the stay.

I’ve had to fight so many hotels to return the parking fee because I didn’t have a car. I’m like dude I took a taxi here. Why are you charging me for parking?

a lot of Hilton owned properties do this now. I was surprised to see this, too, my last couple stats.

Last Hilton hotel I stayed at parking was $12. Lady at the front desk said don’t pay it b/c they don’t enforce it.

Hyatt Place in LOUISVILLE KY does this… and it is way out in the suburbs! And it’s not even a secure or even gated parking lot. I would expect that downtown; they absolutely lost my business.

For decades. I am a Hilton honors member and have been one for the last 30 years. Depending on where you stay you pay for parking that’s just how it’s been.

I've learned of this and definitely call and check now if we have to pay for parking before we go to any hotel

Funny thing…. I’m from NC and pretty much every hotel has free parking unless it’s a higher end place valet parking. But traveling to other states, even the most basic hotels charge for parking or don’t even have on site parking.
