I’ve worked in the dealerships for many years and if you ever look at some of those guys work that are super fast, half the parts are missing. It happened to me one time when I started at a new dealership, one of the lead technicians put a transmission in it came in for a noise. I got stuck with his comeback. The damn transmission was falling out of the car.

I would consider myself decent but I’ve seen two people come and go now who’ve worked at a dealerships that were getting 100-150 hr weeks come work and was struggling to get 20. It’s a lot different working on everything

I know your on mechanics. but in the body shop. you're not considered good, not great, just good unless you pull 80hrs wk. 2-1 average is the standard. senior techs are expected to average 3-1.

Yep I had that every job. It’s funny how people turn on you. I did an engine in 10 hours and called a hack! You can’t have friends at work. I am 52 and still doing it!

whether it’s all data motors or whatever the flat right manual is set up with a minimum 140% of actual time it should take plus of your efficient who should beat that easily, and if you’re working for a good shop, only a small percentage of the work mix should be warranty, so there is no reason for a flat right tech not to be productiveother than not working

question!!! so i work in the auto body side of it i’m on commission i was told to never flag hours. im a painters helper so if we turn 125 paint hours but we want to flag 60 hours to make 205 we would be working free for those 60 hours. so how does that work for you guys?
