I used to work at a hotel and staff LOVES getting heads up you’re celebrating something! I used to get all excited for check in for honeymooners and write them a little card and have champagne ready.

As a hotel receptionist... It only works for 4* and above and if you are not booking last minute. Don't expect a 2* or 3* hotel to give the same kind of service

When I went to Japan with my partner, he wrote it was an anniversary stay and they gave us red wine and a whole dessert board and then he proposed on that trip 😭😭😭

I do it all the time! I’ve had so many hotel staff thank me cause they love making peoples stay extra special! I’ve built so many great connections with them and it just makes it such an awesome experience

As a former hotel receptionist, I can confirm this is not true, I ignore them on purpose. If it’s a special day, pay for something yourself to make it special. It’s not the hotels job to give you stuff for free
