No one’s saying people can’t be proud of the England flag, ofc they can, we’re in England. The issue is how it’s being used by certain groups. The current “Raise the Colours” campaign has been linked to far right groups, and in some places the flag has been spray painted on mosques, playgrounds, and even roundabouts with racist graffiti alongside it. That’s not patriotism, that’s intimidation. When a flag is used in that way, it stops being about pride and starts being about exclusion, basically sending the message “this is our country, you don’t belong.” That’s why people are calling it racist.

Before it was the England flag didn’t bother us it represented football or the good that the country stands for but now people are using it to spread hate and shout racist slurs at foreign people.

Years ago when people had very different views waving a union jack in a black persons face may hsve been threatening but now days thats not the reason.We are just fed up of our government siding with people from other countries but using our tax money to do it with.I agree 100% with this young lady.Talking sense for once and not firstly whipping out the racism card….
