the way I didn't find out that wasn't normal until that meme of "imagine trusting me to drive and all I see it this" was floating heavily (like 4 years ago?)... I looked at my friend and went "I don't understand that IS what it looks like" and she explained what an astigmatism is

I had this same conversation kinda! I was younger and my dad couldn't figure out what i was talking about. "Why don't pictures have the stars on the lights?" He's like wtf do you mean stars? I didn't know how to explain it. The stars, the points, the crosses, spikes..the thingies! They are on every light but never in pictures. He's 80 now, still has 20/20 perfect vision but needs readers and no idea what I'm talking about. 🤣

you need glasses. I have the same issue. it used to look like a huge kaleidoscope. then I had cataracts removed and my lenses in my eyes replaced.
