They are actually finding that for genuine rage syndrome anticonvulsants can be used to treat it almost entirely! Rage syndrome is essentially a seizure disorder, meaning it's caused by excess neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft. Disorders caused by that excess of NTs can very often be treated with anticonvulsants (its a similar story with migraines!)

putting my gsd down for rage syndrome was the hardest day of my life. it was getting worse by the day and he had very little quality of life towards the end he was fine one minute ready to kill the next we literally tried everything and nothing worked i miss him everyday but I know I made the right decision

My dog had this. My wife and I got bit at attacked multiple times along with his brother who he protected all the time. The second I found out they remember the attack and feel guilty was when I decided to put my sweet boy down. It was the most heartbreaking scary thing I ever went through

I just can’t help but imagine if we had the same thoughts toward humans. Anger issues can be neurological, and there are a lot of neurological conditions in humans that cause emotions we can’t control. But we don’t kill all mental ill people. At least not anymore. If we think it’s cruel to “push” a dog through having a mental health crisis, why don’t we think the same of humans. If we think humans should find a way to survive and live with neurological conditions because “death is not the answer” why don’t we think the same of dogs.

i have a boxer. he’s has always been the sweetest boy with out other 2 boys(German shepherd& Pitbull lab mix) they were all under a year old until recently and out of absolutely no where our boxers hair will stand up then he’ll lunge and jump on our lab mix(over a year old) but not on our germen shepherd(under a year) we have no idea what to do

Klondike has been living with RS for 4 years now. We have been to multiple trainers, behaviorists and vets for his condition. It also pairs with REM sleep behavior disorder. He lives safely with lots of precautions. He has been muzzle trained since he was 6 weeks old and has never eaten outside of his kennel and rarely sleeps outside of a kennel. He has 2 other dog housemates that he tolerates and he is almost never left unsupervised with them. It is a lot of work to own one of these dogs and if you live a social life, it will not work for you.

I had to put down my pitty mix who had rage syndrome. She would attack blindly, which made her extremely dangerous because there was never a trigger and she could turn on anyone for any reason. It’s like having a seizure except instead of the typical symptoms of a seizure, they go into a blind rage. It was the hardest yet easiest decision I ever made as I knew she was sick 😢

I read it’s a seizure disorder. If that be the case we should be able too. We help so many people who have seizures. Now it maybe super expensive. 🤷♀️

my dog had this about 15 years ago. tumor on his brain. he was a beautiful chocolate lab!! he was always a little weird though, like he hated water.

Hi!! I watch your videos and I’m amazed! I have a foster who is truly struggling and will possibly be at rest for euthanasia I’m trying the best I can but living with such an aggressive dog is so difficult and being a college student I can’t afford to pay a ton in training unfortunately. Would you ever consider working with a rescue and maybe meeting my foster we’re in Tampa.

Medications to try and control the seizures do really help along with safeguarding measures and watching for the signs before these atracks i.e glazed over eyes

I had a pitbull at 19 with rage syndrome. We tried SO hard to push through it. I didn’t know it yet but he was back yard bread and wasn’t all there with a lot of things. I found out I was pregnant and knew nothing about what was going on. My vet blamed it on the breed (I knew wasn’t true he was not my first bully) so I gave him up to the pound out of pure heart break…they put him down days later after diagnosing rage syndrome. It was the HARDEST thing I’ve ever had to do. That dog was my soulmate.
