@downtoinvest: Investing a Roth IRA 101: A Roth IRA is one of the most powerful retirement accounts because it grows tax-free and withdrawals in retirement can be tax-free too. Be mindful of the 5-year rule and the age 59½ rule. That’s why many investors use a Roth IRA for their higher-growth assets like stock funds or ETFs because the growth is shielded from taxes over the long term. But growth isn’t the only piece of the puzzle. Diversification matters too. You don’t want all your eggs in one basket. A Roth IRA can hold U.S. stocks, international stocks, bonds, and more, which helps balance risk and reward. Some common examples investors often consider inside Roth IRAs are broad, low-cost ETFs such as an S&P 500 ETF, a total stock market ETF, or an international ETF. These provide instant diversification without overcomplicating things. 👉 Bottom line: Your Roth IRA is more than just an account it’s a long-term tax-free growth engine when used strategically. For educational purposes only. ETF examples used are just commonly discussed investment options online and all investing carries risk. Review your personal risk tolerance prior to investing as everyone tolerates a different amount of risk and consult a professional to review your situation. #rothira #moneytok #investingforbeginners #financialeducation #financialfreedom

Love this! Also my workplace offers a Roth 401k and some others do as well- so depending on tax thoughts in retirement can do more Roth (not to mention backdoor roth etc)

Thank you! Can you share why you would want these choices with a Roth rather than 401k? Will these be bad to invest in with 401k?

For the Roth IRA do you split your contribution between all three of those etfs, or is it better to just pick one (VOO for example)?

Question: can I “save 500” in my Roth IRA while it is invested. Sell the 500 that’s invested, to use for emergency, and I won’t get taxed on that?
