Here is the assist feeding “RATPON” instructional video as promised!! We didn’t have any regular size applicators so we used a super size. You can use whatever size you feel is best for the size of the animal you are assisting. A size that is a bit smaller than the snake will work perfectly. ✨Ratpon instructions✨ Supplies: Appropriate size “Ratpon” applicator Tongue depressor Prey item Step 1 Remove the actual tampon from the applicator Step 2 Pull back the flaps and hold them open Step 3 Load in your prey item, tail and feet first. Be sure to point the feet downwards into the hole for easier insertion If you’re assisting multiple animals, it’s best to have all of your applicators loaded before you start feeding Step 4 You’re going to want to get your animal into a good hold position with the neck being held as straight as possible Having another person to help hold the body of the animal makes things a lot easier Step 5 Use your tongue depressor to gently open the mouth and hold it open at the jaw Step 6 Insert the tip of the applicator into the mouth of the animal. Gently use the plunger to push the prey down the throat Some wiggling and repositioning is always helpful to get it in a little further Step 7 Use the tongue depressor to push the prey the rest of the way down, going from side to side Reposition your hands as needed to keep the neck as straight as possible and don’t allow the animal to twist its body Be mindful of how far you’re pushing the tongue depressor into the animals mouth Push it in until just a bit of tail is showing, they will start swallowing on their own once you put them back to relax We hope this video was helpful for those needing to assist feed any hatchlings or juveniles!!
