Maternity leave is for PREGNANT individuals. Bonding is available for adoptive mothers. A corporate leave outside of FMLA has the option to cover or not cover anyone they choose as an employer. FMLA is unpaid FYI

I’m so glad you brought up the bonding, and attention and care needed. Also, the way he’s acting as if new moms who gave birth are just chillin for the first 6 weeks… like they’re just hanging out, healing 24/7. THEY’RE TAKING CARE OF A WHOLE A$$ BRAND NEW HUMAN *WHILE* TRYING TO HEAL.

My company has this exact policy. It is not called maternity leave. It is called “birth mother recovery.” You get six weeks paid. They also give any parent “bonding” leave, which is two weeks paid leave. So, a mom who births an infant gets 8 weeks paid. A mom who adopts an infant only gets 2 weeks paid. Dads gets 2 regardless.
